Palos Verdes Peninsula Council of PTAs

Welcome! The PVP Council of PTAs is proud to be part of the nation's largest volunteer association with a 100-year history of advocating for all children. Our council consists of 16 PTAs and nearly 10,000 PTA members.

The Palos Verdes Peninsula council of PTAs is excited to embark upon the 2018-2019 school year with the Palos Verdes Unified School District and School Board, all school sites, parents, teachers, and the greater Palos Verdes community to make this school year and exceptional one. The PVP Council coordinates all the PTAs (Parent Teacher Associations) and PTSAs (Parent Teacher Student Associations) throughout Palos Verdes to support enrichment programs (such as the National Reflections Art Recognition program), organize Mock Elections and Capitol Convoy, fund disaster and safety training, and run the truly unique Costume Closet.

Each school site varies in the programs its PTA/PTSA provides, dependent upon the school level. Examples of the types of programs and enrichment organized and funded include: cultural assemblies; field trips; Art at Your Fingertips; Yellow and Green Ribbon Weeks'; Mock Elections; Honorary Service Awards; Capitol Convoy; Sacramento Safari; Disaster Preparedness; Parent Education; and numerous other programs specific to the various schools.  None of these programs would be offered at any Palos Verdes school were it not for the parent support at each school. Support for these programs comes in various forms- direct drive donations, PTA/PTSA membership for each family, and thousands of hours of parent volunteer work. Each of these is vitally important to the continuation of these PTA programs in all of our schools.

One of the most important ways to support your school and stay informed is to become a PTA member at your school site. Your PTA membership supports the PTA programs which enrich the experience of our students, and provides you with a voice at your school site and in the National PTA organization which advocates on behalf of all our children. Volunteering your time towards the PTA programs of interest to you, and attending monthly PTA meetings are valuable ways to be a citizen of your school community. Your PTA participation is a valuable resource in our community, with over 190,000 hours of volunteer service by PTA last year alone.

Finally, the PVP Council of PTAs Costume Closet, located at the Malaga Cove School, is an excellent resource for costume rentals for school projects and plays, Cotillion and Assembly dances, Halloween, and themed fundraising events. Please click on the Costume Closet tab above for more information about this service program.

We look forward to seeing you at a PTA event this year. Please contact us at with any questions you might have about our PTA Council activities.
